Arts at GCS
At Glenelg Country School, we believe that the arts
play an integral part in the development of the whole
person.
The arts have the ability to touch something in the
minds and hearts of the human sensibility that can be
the wellspring for not only artists and poets, but philosophers
and scientists.
To experience what beauty is, to be challenged or moved
or angered or puzzled by a work of art brings us closer
to our uniqueness as members of the human family. Students
are encouraged to be the artist no matter what the medium.
Exploring historical aesthetics as well as developing
personal aesthetics are key components to our arts program.
Performing and Visual Arts work together to challenge
the student to risk "outside the box." The
arts programs seek to expand the individual's perception
of the possible by providing many opportunities in exploring
mediums in visual arts, music and theatrical performance.
