The Marshall Legacy Institute K9-9K
The 5th Annual Dr. Seuss Read-A-Thon and the 9th Annual K9-9K benefiting The Marshall Legacy Institute took place on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.
During the Dr. Seuss Read-A-Thon, fifty-two students read in the beautiful Parlors! The students that raised the most money from their sponsors received awards. The first place winner this year was Sureena S. who raised $890. Second place was Lousia M. who raised $725. The third place winner was Braedan M. who raised $561. A total of $5471 was raised at this year’s event.
The 9th Annual K9-9K Family Fun Day benefitting The Marshall Legacy Institute was on Saturday morning on the scenic campus of Glenelg Country School in Ellicott City. Proceeds from the event go towards the sponsorship of another Landmine Detection Dog and/or the purchase of prosthetics for Landmine Survivors.
The morning kicked off with a run/walk. It was a windy day, but people and their dogs came out to support this wonderful organization.
Following the walk/run, there was food for sale, raffle prizes, and loads of family activities! The MLI’s canine ambassador was on-site performing mine detection demonstrations, showing how dogs can safely and effectively “sniff out” landmines!
The combined events raised $8744.17 for The Marshall Legacy Institute. Thank you to all the participants!
