Continuing College Admissions Virtually

Damian Garcia and Jenn Auchmoody
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, everyday tasks and opportunities once considered less necessary are now missed. Among them, visiting colleges and many other little details of the college application process—a seemingly small issue—can be extremely detrimental to students approaching their junior and senior years. Glenelg Country School's (GCS) College Counseling office is invigorated to reinvent navigating the college admissions process. After months of brainstorming, the office is hosting virtual College Admissions Panels.

Six panels, each with six colleges, will take place throughout the summer. College representatives share information about their institutions, while participants can ask questions about each school's admissions process. Scheduled to participate is a broad cross-section of colleges and universities representing large and small, private and public institutions.

Previous panels took place on June 30, July 7, and July 10, including a focus on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The future College Admissions Panels begin at 11 am on July 14, July 24, and July 28. GCS students interested in attending may register by logging into SCOIR.
